8 Quick and Dirty Core Moves for Athletes
Your core is the center of your strength. We use it for just about everything, most of the time without thinking about it. We use it in swimming for trunk and hip rotation. We engage our core on the bike because we need to hold ourselves in the aero position for several hours at a time. Runners use their core to help with arm swing and trunk rotation.
A strong core is essential for athletes- it not only helps us with sports but a strong core can actually prevent injuries to the extremities. It can aid in good running, swimming, and biking form. That's why you want to consistently STRENGTHEN your core as part of your overall strength training program.
You don't need a lot of fancy equipment and you can work your core just about anywhere. Below I put together 8 Quick and Dirty Core Moves for Athletes/Triathletes that you can incorporate into your next strength session. Do 2-3 sets of 12 reps of each exercise. Enjoy!
